NAF Neutralises Insurgents in Kollaram, Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has neutralised several Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters at multiple locations within Kollaram, in Borno.
Kollaram is a settlement on the fringes of Lake Chad in the Northern part of Borno.
Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said the operation was conducted on Friday.
“The operation, which was conducted on August 9 as part of the ongoing Operation GREEN SWEEP 3 targeted three compounds in the village, where Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports had earlier indicated that the ISWAP fighters were concentrated.
“Consequently, following confirmatory Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which showed significant presence of the terrorists in the designated areas.
” The ATF scrambled three Alpha Jet aircraft to attack the locations.
” The munitions of the Jets hit the desired points of impact of the targets causing damage to the buildings and neutralising dozens of the terrorists,” he said.
The spokesperson said the NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, would sustain its efforts to completely destroy all remnants of the terrorists in the North-East(NAN).

Police Nab Motel Owner, 2 Others, Recover Firearm, in Anambra
The Police Command in Anambra has nabbed three male suspects in connection with illegal possession of firearms, and involvement in illicit drug activities in the state.
The Police Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday in Awka, said that the suspects were picked up at a Motel in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Ikenga said that the operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, while acting on credible information in the late hours of Feb.
9, stormed the Motel, where the suspects were arrested.He said that the suspects were aged 39, 26 and 18 respectively.
He also said that during the search, one Jojef pump action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges was recovered at the scene.
According to him, during interrogation, one of the suspects, who is the owner of the motel, confessed to the crime.
”His confession led to the arrest of the other two suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos, and Mkpuru-mmiri.”
Ikenga reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining ongoing operations against criminal elements in the state.
He urged members of the public to continue to provide useful information to aid policing efforts. He assured that further developments would be communicated as the investigation progressed.

Police Arrest Kidnapping Suspect, Rescue 2 in Adamawa
The Police Command in Adamawa yesterday, said it has rescued two kidnap victims, and arrested one suspect during a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement in Yola.
He said that this was in continuation of a decisive operation, aimed at combating kidnapping and enhancing public safety.
“The Adamawa Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested one suspected kidnapper, following their kidnapping at Gwewan Village, Dumne in Song LGA.
“The success was primarily due to the strategic deployment of combined security assets by the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo.
“These led to a joint operation comprising Police operatives and some members of the local security outfits; the team carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located at Suktu Mountain on Feb. 11.
“On sighting the security team, the suspected kidnappers engaged the operatives in a gun duel but were forced to flee with possible gunshot injuries, abandoning two kidnapped victims namely Rabe Mamman Sani, 18, and Aminu Mamman Sani, 16, who were rescued unhurt” he said.
Nguroje said that during the operation, an identified 22-year-old suspect of Salasa Village, Dumne in Song LGA, was arrested and he confessed to his involvement in the crime.
He added that the rescued victims were taken to the Hospital for medical examination, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.

Troops Rescue Eight Abducted Wedding Guests in Kano
Troops of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued eight of the 10 persons abducted by suspected terrorists at a wedding venue on Wednesday, in Dabawa, Shanono Local Government Area, Kano State.
A credible Army Headquarters source said yesterday that an unconfirmed number of gunmen reportedly dressed in military camouflage invaded the ceremony and whisked away the victims.
He said the troops deployed at an ambush position along the Yankwada River line, swiftly advanced to the general area upon receiving the distress report and made contact with the fleeing assailants at Garu Village in neighbouring Katsina State.
According to him, troops pursued the bandits up to the Katsina–Gidan Mutum Daya road axis before contact was broken.
”During the operation, eight of the abducted girls were successfully rescued and have since been reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to track and rescue the remaining two victims.”
The sources said the operations in the general area had continued to ensure the safe return of the remaining victims and prevent further attacks.
