The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has established a new directorate to handle the service’ landed properties located across the country.

This is contained in a statement by NAF Director, Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the Directorate of Land Administration has been mandated to secure, control, document, manage and administer all NAF landed properties nationwide.

Gabkwet said the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, approved the new directorate which will be under NAF Logistics Branch.

He said the land directorate would interface with government ministries, and NAF Base Commanders to expeditiously dispense all cases of trespasses and encroachments on NAF lands in line with extant laws.

The spokesman explained that NAF wanted to address the incessant issues of trespass, encroachment and needless disputes over un-demarcated or unfenced boundaries, and avoid conflicts and disputes with civilians, institutions or organisations.

“The need for the NAF to address this situation is also expedient as some of these encroachments constitute a risk to the security of some NAF Bases with implications on national security,” he added. (NAN)
