Nigerian Army Boosts Operations With 55 New Buffalo Vehicles

The Nigerian Army(NA), Wednesday, reiterated its commitment to end Boko Haram insurgency, restore peace and stability to the North Eastern region of the country.

 
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant-General Tukur  Buratai stated this while commissioning fifty-five (55) Buffalo 4 runner all – terrain vehicles at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja.


The vehicles are to enhance its capacity in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria. 


Speaking at the ceremony, General Buratai commended the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, for pressing on in the fight against insurgency and other forms of insecurity across the nation. 

Buratai, represented by the Chief of Logistics, Nigerian Army, Major General Jewel Onigbo, explained that the vehicles would be inducted into the frontline in the Northeast to fight terrorism and insurgency in the country.

 


He further described the model of vehicles as an asset and indeed force multiplier particularly in the North East where the Armed Forces of Nigeria is conducting operations against Boko Haram criminals. 


“It is therefore my belief that the vehicles will increase the mobility and combat efficiency of the Nigerian Army Troops in mission area” he said.
