Osun APC Wants State CP Investigated, Removed over Attack on Aregbesola

The Osun State Chapter of All Progressives Congress has urged the Inspector General of Police to investigate and redeploy the state Police Commissioner, Mr Wale Olokode for alleged compromise and partisanship on the recent attack on the Minister for Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
The party made the demand in a protest letter on Wednesday signed by the state chairman of the party, Hon.

Rasaq Salinsile to Olokode.

They accused Olokode of compromise, bias and unprofessional conducts in his handling of the internal crisis of the party in the state.
The Aregbesola faction of the party called on President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the IGP to investigate the attack on the Minister of Internal Affairs and remove the Commissioner of police.

The party members said they found it absurd that the CP could refer to the minister as a criminal.

“We consider this as a shame that is inimical to the country’s security system and therefore call on the President, Muhammadu Buhari, to order investigation into the attack on the Minister of Interior and direct the Inspector General of Police the Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode, out of Osun so that genuine peace can reign again.
“We found your Command’s position on the attack on the Minister for Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola contained in the press release of February 15, 2022 absurd, disturbing and unbelievable.

“As bonafide citizens of Nigeria and the socio-political environment called the State of Osun, we put on record once more that you are incapable of living up to the billings of your core duty as a protector of lives and property of all citizens.
“It is sad that your Command has taken its bias tendencies to the highest level of calling the Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria a criminal.
“It is heart wrenching that your Command has caved in totally to lucre-based influence of Governor Gboyega Oyetola and shown unbridled loyalty to him by castigating the minister by the content of your press release.
“It is a sad tale that your Command, without any of your men in the Minister’s convoy, as it pleases your master at Okefia Government House, concluded that “Minister brought in hoodlums to disturb the peace of the state.
“It is most sour that in your bid to play his master’s voice, your Command alleged criminality against the Minister who served as Governor for two terms of eight years in this state and without much criminal incidents as it is rampant now.
“It will be interesting for you to let the world know how much of investigation you carried out before you arrived at your conclusion in the press release. It is certain that your Command’s position is a statement written for you from Governor Oyetola’s Okefia Government House and not a proceed of any investigation.
“The malaise of serving the purpose of only Governor Oyetola and his men, CP Wale Olokode has blinded your Command from going after criminals who has invaded the Osun landscape big time since you assume duty as the Commissioner of Police in the State.
“That is why there are so many cases of unresolved kidnapping, murder (especially that of OAU MBA student, Timothy Adegoke that has to be taken out of your Command because it was obvious you have been compromised), ritual cases, cult war e.t.c.
“It is not surprising that your command has never deemed it fit to brief us and the general people of the state on the attack on Oranmiyan House till now. May we ask why you have also refused to be giving us policemen whenever we have programme, the last of which was the Iwo rally yesterday.
“Dear CP, may we note that it is clear you have not applied your mind to the policing job as would be expected and you have rather opted for the juicy political cases that have Governor Gboyega Oyetola government interest and for which we know you are well serviced.
“We note with serious concern that your biased nature and lack of professional etiquette may run Osun into crisis if it’s not quickly curtailed. We have had cause to call on you to step down by asking for you redeployment because the people of Osun no longer have confidence in you by virtue of your lack of correct disposition towards your job.
“It is certain that you have been compromised by Governor Oyetola by challenging a sister security organisation who had dared to be professional in an attack on a minister of the republic, and your command later provided guide and cover for orchestrated protesters to the organisation’s headquarters,” Salinsile said.
