The Plateau State government has received a donation of N28.
The gesture is coming shortly after the State Government established the “Plateau State COVID-19 Support Fund to solicit for various financial support from corporate organizations and spirited individuals to enable government combat the dreaded disease.
The donation was made through its UBA Foundation to the State government on Monday by Mr. Steve Gadzama, the Regional Bank Head, Jos to Governor Simon Lalong on behalf of the Bank held at the new Government House, Rayfield in Jos the Plateau State capital.
The Director of Press to the Governor and Public Affairs Dr. Makut Simon Macham said Mr.Gadzama stressed the fact that UBA has since remained a partner to the Government of Plateau State and was happy with the measures taken so far to deal with the ravaging coronavirus before the virus find it’s way into the state.
The Regional Head disclosed that the bank has also constructed and donated an isolation facility including an incubator at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital in Jos.
Governor Lalong thanked the UBA for setting the pace in contributing to the Fund and assured them that the account will be managed transparently and the money will be applied to critical areas including “responding to the needs of the poor and people in rural areas.”
He urged other corporate organisations and well meaning individuals to also donate to the Fund known as “PLATEAU STATE COVID-19 SUPPORT FUND. ACCOUNT NUMBER: UBA 1022751747.”
Governor Lalong also said the Government welcome other donations of facilities, medical equipment and other consumables towards building the capacity of the State to handle the situation.
