Pool Sex Video: Anambra Govt. Seals up Hotel, Begins Investigation

The Anambra Government has sealed up operations in a section of Wintess Garden Annexe, Ifite Awka, over a viral pool sex video that was linked to the facility.
The Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr Donatus Onyenji, who signed the order dated Sept. 8, said the action was to enable the government and security agencies to conduct investigations into the matter.

Onyenji also said that the action was in line with the provisions of the Anambra State Tourism and Hospitality Law 2016.

He further said that government’s action was in spite of the ministry already having before it, an application for Operational Permit by the hotel, dated Aug.
“However, while the process is ongoing, our attention has been drawn to the social media video of live sex and pornographic content (sex party) conducted on Sept.
3 at an open place in your hotel/facility.
“This and other such indecent operations and unholy acts of public show of indecency must not be allowed in any hotel in Anambra.
“The Government of Anambra hereby directs the management of the hotel to shut down operations, pending further investigations and review of its application,” Onyenji said.
Reacting to the development, Mr Ndibe Ikeh, the General Manager of Witness Group, owners of the hotel, expressed regrets over the incident.
Ikeh said that the incident did not represent the company’s values and operational principles.
He thanked the government for wading into the scandal by taking decisive steps to investigate and unravel the perpetrators and their motives.
Ikeh, who did not rule out blackmail by their detractors, called on the Department of State Services and Police to conduct a thorough investigation with the aim of establishing the role of the hotel in the incident.
“Wintess Garden Hotel is a responsible organisation with good moral values, our services are open to the public.
“As a management, we condemn the act and call for thorough investigation into the matter.
“We apologise for this embarrassment and thank the state government for its kind intervention,” he said.
He requested that the investigation be carried out to a logical conclusion. (NAN)

Calabar Agog as Carnival takes Centre Stage

Calabar on Thursday stood still as the parade of the bands took centre stage in the ongoing cultural festival christened “Carnival Calabar”.

The parade, which saw the various bands in their colourful costumes dance through the 12 kilometres carnival route, also saw a large number of residents, tourists and fun seekers cheering them.

Declaring the parade open, Gov.

Bassey Otu of Cross River said they were bringing back the carnival in a bigger platform where it could truly be referred to as an international brand.

He added that the essence was to ensure that Cross River was really the choice tourism destination in Nigeria.

Some of the tourists from Lagos, said that the Calabar carnival was truly the biggest street party in Nigeria.

Mr Adebayo Adeyanju, a medical practitioner, who was attending the carnival for the second time with his wife and two kids, said it was really a spectacle to behold, adding that his kids were happy.

He, however, appealed to the government of Cross River to develop other tourism potentials of the state so that tourism would be an all-year-round activity not just in December – during the carnival.

“We have Obudu Cattle Ranch that is no longer functional; we have the Agbokim Waterfall and even Tinappa. All these great tourist sites were pushed down due to poor management,” he fumed.

Miss Clara Frederick, a Canadian, who was visiting Calabar for the first time, said she was having a good time as she had been treated well by the residents and would like to visit again in 2024.

Reports says that there is massive presence of security officials at different parts of the city, especially along the carnival route, with vehicular movements effectively diverted.

This is to forestall a reoccurrence of the 2022 incident where some people lost their lives and many were injured by a recklessly driven vehicle which ran into the carnival route.

The various bands are expected to interprete the theme of the carnival which is: “The season of Sweetness.”

They are expected to perform at different adjudication points where they will be judged by a panel and the winning band will go home with a cash prize.

Some of the competing bands in the event include the Master Blaster Band and Seagull Band.

Others are Diamond Band, Bayside Band, Passion Four Band, Calas Vegas Band among others. (NAN)
