Tribunal Judgment: Plateau South in celebration mood, says APC official
Alhaji Abdullahi Nyalun, Plateau South Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says the zone is in celebration mood over the recent tribunal judgments in the state.
Nyalun said this during a news conference on Wednesday, in Shendam.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the National Assembly Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Jos, had nullified the elections of some National Assembly members from the state, including those from Plateau South.
The APC zonal chairman said that contrary to claims that there was threat to peace, the people were instead jubilating because of the tribunal verdicts.
He particularly made reference to the statement by Sen. Napoleon Bali (PDP/Plateau), who was sacked by the tribunal, that the judgments generated tension and threat to peace, saying the claim was unfounded.
“Contrary to his claim of tensions or threats to peace in the zone, there was mass jubilations and celebrations all over the zone because of the victory of the APC candidates at the tribunal.
“We therefore, condemn in strong terms this brand of divisive politics, while maintaining our unity and cohesion as citizens of the same zone.
“It is important to stress here that the collective interest of the Southern Zone is above the individual ambition of Bali.
“Hence, he should not imagine that the peace-loving people of this zone would take up arms against each other because he lost his senatorial seat,” he stated.
Nyalun congratulated the APC family, as well as former Gov. Simon Lalong, Rep Idris Wase, and Mr Vincent Bulus, over their victories.
The zonal chairman appealed to teeming members and supporters of the party, to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, as they look forward to more victories at the tribunals.
