From Dan Amasingha, Minna

Chairman of the main Opposition Peoples Democratic Party, in Niger State,  PDP Barrister Tanko Beji has declared that the party is not  losing sleep over the recent decamping of three bigwigs to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC describing it as the movement of Nomads.

Barrister Tanko Beji stated this while speaking to Daily Asset shortly after a State Executive Council meeting at the party’s secretariat, Minna.

He explained that the three former party members led by Hon Ahmed Ibeto, a former Deputy Governor and also a former Nigeria’s High commissioner to South Africa were simply returning back to their party.

“We don’t see anything special about the outing of Alhaji Ibeto because, we lose three members and gain over ten even from the former Deputy Governor’s local government area

” we lost three , but more than ten came in because some people has vowed that, they can’t stay in the same party  with him even at Magama where he hails from, that is the beauty of party politics:

The State PDP state chairman described the outing of the opposition party as outstanding as they won six houses of Assembly members, Four House of Representatives and One Senate seat.

“The party had a good outing bearing in mind that we are coming from a disastrous outing in 2019”

He said the party State executives had fixed an expanded State Working Committee meeting for the 7th of November 2023 to review the party’s activities in the last election especially,  the outcome of the various Court cases.

According to Barrister Beji, the proposed meeting will further review the report on outstanding committee’s and the white paper report along with those who recently joined the party.

From Marcel Duru, Charity Wins Owerri

The Governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodimma has said that Imo State has not received N30 billion from President Tinubu.

Speaking with top  level Party Chiftains at the government House in Owerri Imo State recently, urged them not to rely on the quick and false information of the so called social media

He said that if Imo State Government has received the fund form the Federal Government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu perhaps everybody in the State will be aware of it.

Recently Godswill Akpabio, Nigeria’s senate president has disclosed that each state governor has been allocated an extra N30 billion to address the challenges of food scarcity and hardships confronting Nigerians.

Akpabio said each state should properly utilize the money towards ensuring the availability of food.

The former Akwa Ibom governor made this known while Speaking on the floor of the senate

“I must say that unverified report has it that each of the state government in the last few months received additional N30 billion from Federal Inland Revenue Service, outside their normal allocation from the federation account to assist them in ameliorating the food situation.

“We believe that every state government should utilise the funds so received towards ensuring that food is available.”

The current economic hardship has led to a hike in the prices of foodstuffs across the country.

The shortage of foodstuffs was also linked to the hoarding by some people and illegal smuggling to neighbouring countries.

Recall that Vice President Kashim Shettima had disclosed how security operatives discovered 32 illegal routes being used to smuggle foodstuffs and other items to neighbouring countries from Nigeria.

Shettima said security agents intercepted 45 trucks smuggling maize to neighbouring countries.

He noted that the price of “maize” came down by N10,000. The price of maize allegedly came down from N60,000 to N50,000″ when the trucks were intercepted.
