Indications have emerged as to why Abia former Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon was Tuesday redeployed to the Force Headquarters.
DAILY ASSET recalls that Ene Okon was on Tuesday redeployed to the Force Headquarters and replaced with the first female Commissioner of Police in the South East, Janet Agbede.
Ene Okon’s redeployment came on the extra-judicial killing of one Friday Ifeanyi Arunsi from Ebem Ohafia on Friday by a trigger-happy policeman.
The killing provoked a pandemonium capable of engulfing the entire Ohafia community.
The Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, on the strength of the extra-judicial killing constituted a Special Investigation Panel headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Anthony Michael Ogbizi, the officer in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the unfortunate incident, which degenerated into a riot and the setting ablaze of a magistrate court, a police DPO’s apartment, a police station and a police van.
DAILY ASSET investigations also revealed that since the redeployment of Ene Okon as the commissioner of police in Abia State, extra-judicial judicial killings and other professional misconduct among policemen in Abia State have soared.
