Benue Rep Donates Four Years Salary to Orphans, Widows, Others

A member of the House of Representatives, representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, Hon. Francis Ottah Agbo has revealed plans to donate his four years salary to the empowerment of orphans and windows across the three local government areas that make up the constituency.

Disclosing this during a courtesy call on him by members of the National Assembly Benue Journalists Forum (NABEJOF) in Abuja, Hon. Agbo said he has already inaugurated an 11-man committee to come up with modalities on how to disburse the funds.

”I have said this repeatedly that for four (4) years I have dedicated my salaries as a member of the House of Representatives to the services of the orphans, widows, the less privileged and the vulnerable in the society. “I do not intend to draw a dime from my salaries. I have setup a committee we are going to be disbursing the funds every six months so that the beneficiaries will use the money to take care of themselves,” Hon. Agbo said.

The parliamentarian also said he has already started the distribution of hybrid fortified cassava stem to farmers in his constituency as part of measures to enable them start cultivating improved species of cassava.

He expressed support for the choice of Ndudi Elumelu as the House of Representatives Minority Leader, saying it was carefully done in accordance with Order 7 rule 8 of the Standing Rules of the House of Representatives, “which is a derivative of section 64 of the 1999 Construction”.
