The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt.

Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has commended the commencement of the construction of a 17.5km dual carriage access road to the second Niger Bridge, describing the project as a historic milestone for the state and the nation.

The project, flagged off by President Bola Tinubu and who was represented by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, is expected to enhance the connectivity between Delta and the South East, particularly Anambra State.

According to Rt. Hon. Guwor, the new access road will significantly ease vehicular movement in and out of Delta, particularly from the Asaba end of the state.

He emphasized that the project holds immense potential for transforming the transportation landscape of the region, boosting economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for the people.

The Speaker, who also serves as the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, described the flag-off as a pivotal moment in strengthening the socio-economic ties between Delta and the South East, particularly Anambra.

He noted that the road project would facilitate smoother trade, commerce, and tourism exchanges between the two states, which have long shared economic and cultural ties.

In a statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Rt. Hon. Guwor, lauded the federal government’s investment in the project, which he believes will lead to improved infrastructure, economic opportunities, and a better standard of living for citizens of both Delta and Anambra States.

The Speaker acknowledged the potential benefits that the access road would bring to the region, particularly in terms of trade and commerce, while also highlighting its positive impact on tourism.

He said that the project would make it easier for businesses to thrive, tourists to explore, and people to travel seamlessly between the two states, opening new avenues for economic development.

“This road will undoubtedly ease vehicular movement between Delta and Anambra States, especially from the Asaba end of the state, making it more accessible for trade, tourism, and daily commuting. The enhanced connectivity will also help in creating more job opportunities and stimulating economic growth in the region,” he stated.

Rt. Hon. Guwor also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by Governor Oborevwori at the event, for prioritizing the construction of vital infrastructure projects.

He noted that President Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to infrastructural development are evident in the realization of such critical projects across the country, which will have lasting benefits for Nigerians.

The Speaker further extended his appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his unwavering commitment to the development of Delta State, particularly in the area of infrastructural growth.

He commended the Governor for his physical presence at the flag-off ceremony, which, according to the Speaker, underscored the importance of the project and his administration’s vision for the state’s development.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has demonstrated remarkable leadership through his MORE agenda, which focuses on promoting infrastructural development, economic growth, and overall progress in Delta State. Deltans are proud of his achievements, and we, in the Delta State House of Assembly, will continue to support him in his efforts to build a greater Delta,” Rt. Hon. Guwor remarked.

He also praised the Governor for his continued efforts to strengthen Delta’s infrastructural framework, which is expected to improve the standard of living for the state’s citizens and attract investment to the region.

According to Guwor, the 17.5km dual carriage road is just one of many important projects that reflect the Governor’s commitment to the sustainable development of the state.

The Speaker said that the completion of the access road would mark the beginning of a new era of connectivity and cooperation between Delta and the South East, particularly Anambra.

He said that such infrastructure developments are essential for Nigeria’s long-term growth, helping to foster greater unity, understanding, and economic progress across state lines.

“This project is a clear demonstration of the federal government’s commitment to enhancing national integration through improved infrastructure. We are excited about the potential benefits this access road will bring to Delta State, and we look forward to even greater collaboration between our state and the South East as we continue to grow and prosper,” Guwor said.
