Ikpeazu Backs Anyim for 2023 Presidency

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, yesterday threw his weight behind a former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim’s bid for president in 2023.
Anyim was also one-time Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Ikpeazu gave the support when he received Anyim in his Umuobiakwa, Obingwa Local Government Area country home.
He described Anyim as “a man whose public service credentials and experience are good enough for the Presidency of Nigeria”.
Ikpeazu assured Anyim of his support, noting that what mattered was “just for the Igbos to be given a chance to produce the next Nigerian President”.
“No other tribe in Nigeria has demonstrated practical belief in the Nigerian nation better than the Igbos as can be seen from the fact that our people live and invest heavily in every part of the country,” Ikpeazu said.
He added that in the Southeast and across the country, “the credentials of Senator Anyim stand very tall”.
Anyim said he came to formally inform Ikpeazu and the party leadership in the state of his plans to contest for president in the 2023 general elections.

June 12: APC Reaffirms Commitment to Democratic Principles

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment to democratic principles, expressing full support for President Bola Tinubu’s policies and programmes.
Mr Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja while congratulating Nigerians on the occasion of the 2025 June 12 Democracy Day anniversary.
“Democratic governance remains the best solution to Nigeria’s challenges, and this administration is putting democracy to work for the economy, peace, well-being, and security of all our people.
“We commend Nigerians for their patient support of President Tinubu’s administration and for enduring the transient difficulties faced.
“As the president continues to tackle our national challenges at their roots, with evident signs of a steadily rebounding economy, we stand firmly with him and his administration’s valiant efforts to build a brighter future for all Nigerians,” Morka said.
He described Democracy Day as a worthy occasion of collective pride as the nation continued to consolidate democracy and entrench progress for current and future generations.
“Democracy stands as the preferred mode of governance not because of its perfection, but because, even in its imperfections, it affords citizens the finest opportunity to exercise their sovereign right to freely choose those who govern them.
“In its fundamental elements, democracy represents the most profound recognition and protection of the rule of law and fundamental liberties compared to other governance models,” Morka explained.
He expressed gratitude to compatriots for their vision, courage, and love of country, who sacrificed through struggles to end arbitrariness, oppressive military tyranny, and dictatorship for the benefit of all Nigerians.
He said as the nation marked Democracy Day, Nigeria was led by one of democracy’s finest, fearless, and resilient champions, President Tinubu, a visionary leader.
Morka described Tinubu as a bold reformer, adding that under his watch, the country had risen to tackle deep-seated structural challenges hindering national growth and development.
According to him, Tinubu’s policies, designed to promote social and economic inclusion, have secured improved minimum wage, access to student loans, and better healthcare, among others.
He highlighted that the administration had achieved financial autonomy for Local Governments and increased federal allocations to states.
“The administration is now positioned to pay off loans and improve service and infrastructure delivery, while tertiary institutions are better funded, and incessant strikes have been abated.
“The era of politicised and polarising conflicts among democratic institutions is far behind us.
“It has been replaced by an evolving culture of institutional autonomy anchored on a shared commitment to promoting the common good of Nigerians.
“The peaceful and collaborative relationship between the Executive and Legislative branches, backed by a vibrant and independent Judiciary, has proven more creative for progress in our country than ever before,” Morka said.
He acknowledged that in spite of growing insecurity in the Sahel region and its spillover impact on Nigeria, the Tinubu-led administration continued to tackle insecurity with ironclad resolve and many recorded successes nationwide.(NAN)

Tinubu’s 2 years Worth More than a Decade – Goronyo

Alhaji Bello Goronyo, the Minister of State for Works, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s achievements in just two years in office have surpassed those of an entire decade.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Sokoto, Goronyo emphasised that Tinubu was committed to the serious task of repositioning Nigeria to meet the needs and aspirations of all its citizens.
“President Tinubu has cautioned all his cabinet members that their appointments are not for enjoyment, but for dedicated service to safeguard Nigeria’s future.
“Today, we are proud of his passion and commitment to the development of Nigeria across all sectors.
“His dedication has already made a positive impact that feels like more than a decade’s worth of progress, even though he has been in office for only two years,” he said.
The minister further stated that the country was currently undergoing extensive rehabilitation across all sectors.
“Though we inherited numerous incomplete and abandoned projects, many of which are still ongoing, we have surpassed expectations.
“Under the Ministry of Works alone, we had completed no fewer than 260 projects across the six geopolitical zones of the country,” he said.
Goronyo also reaffirmed that the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda was being implemented smoothly and continues to receive top priority from all the members of the federal cabinet.
He congratulated Tinubu and assured Nigerians that more democratic dividends were on the way.
Commenting on the achievements of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, the Minister praised the Governor for his transparency and commitment to inclusive governance.
He stated that the governor’s nine-point Smart Agenda was being effectively implemented and it was delivering tangible results.
“We will continue to pray for and support him, so that after he is re-elected in 2027, it will be an opportunity to consolidate on the progress already made,” Goronyo added. (NAN)
