Stock Market Closes on Red, Shedding N4bn

Transaction activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange NSE Tuesday closed in bearish, shedding N4 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities declines by 0.03 per cent to N13.354 trillion from N13.358 trillion reported on Monday. 

The NSE All Share Index also fell by 7.63 basis points to  25597.

96 points from 25605.59 traded the previous day.

Investors traded 245.139 million shared valued at N3.013 billion in 3597 deals against 257.027 million shares valued at N3.320 billion in 3567 deals.

An analysis of the investment showed that Wapco led gainers table during the day, appreciating by N0.45 kobo to close at N13.50 kobo, Cap Plc followed with a gain of N0.20 kobo to close at N17.00, UAC Property gained N0.08 kobo to close at N0.95 kobo, Ikeja Hotel added N0.

08 kobo to close at N0.92 kobo while Guinness Nigeria PLC gained N0.05 kobo to close at N15.50 kobo.

On the contrary, Seplat Petroleum Development Plc topped losers chart, declining by N5.00 to close at N385.00, Redstarex trailed with a loss of N0.23 kobo to close at N3.52 kobo, Dangote Sugar Refinery fell by N0.15 kobo to close at N11.90 kobo, Nahco dipped by N0.13 kobo to close at N2.00 while NPF micro finance Bank sheds N0.13 kobo to close at N1.25 kobo.

The NSE trading result further showed that FBNHoldings was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 51.439 million shares valued at N257.446 million, Guaranty Trust Bank followed with account of 46.291 million shares worth N1.159 billion, Zenith Bank traded 18.777 million shares cost N322.417 million, Stanbic IBTC exchanged 15.948 million shares cost N629.966 million while Access Bank sold a total of 14.226 million shares valued at N95.781 million
