Security Floods Kano Ahead Tinubu Visit
From Aliyu Askira, Kano
Kano State is tense with security operatives arriving the state from Abuja to monitor the visit of President Bola Tibunu and Vice President Kashim Shettima who will be visiting the state on Monday to formally receive Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The planned visit is coming against allegations by a senior figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Alhaji Buba Galadima that the presidency and the office of National Security Adviser (NSA) had turned down a written request to stop the leader of NNPP, Dr.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from visiting Kano.Alhaji Buba Galadima made the allegation while speaking to a DCL Hausa television outfit yesterday in Kano.
He also dismissed claims linking Christian persecution against Kwankwaso by some parliamentarians of the United States as baseless and politically motivated.“We are aware that the Kano State Government has written to Federal Government to Prevent Kwankwaso from Visiting Kano and when this was not granted, we now saw the so called Christian persecution by the American Congress which are unfounded and baseless,
“This threat by the US Congress did not come to us as a surprise because we are fully aware that the federal government will be using governor Abba of Kano State to frustrate all political moves by the NNPP National Leader.” He alleged.
In readiness for the planned visit of the President and the Vice President on Monday, the State chapter of APC and the Government House have set up several committees to organise a benefiting welcome ceremony for the August visitors who will in turn receive the Governor Abba into APC.
In spite of the official ceremony to mark the defection of Governor Abba from NNPP, Buba Galadima insisted that Kwankwaso has remained the political leader of Kano State.
