Senator representing Benue North- East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Gabriel Suswam on Monday flagged off disbursement of scholarships to students at the law school who are from his senatorial zone.
Wife of the Senator, Arch Dooshima Suswam flagged off the disbursement on behalf of her husband in Makurdi.
Arch. Suswam said the bursary allowances was part of Suswam’s gestures in giving back to the society that made him.
She urged the law students to be committed to academics at the Law School.
The Former First Lady said all students at the law school from the seven local government areas that make up the Senatorial district will benefit from the scheme annually, noting that it will be carried out in Batches.
DAILY ASSET reports that 50 students received N100,000 cash each at the flagoff, while other beneficiaries are to receive it through their Bank accounts.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, the President, Law School Students, Victor Gbatul appreciated the Senator for putting them at the centre of his Senatorial journey through the scholarship scheme.
Gbatul wished Sen. Suswam many years at the Senate and prayed God to strengthen him to continue the good gesture.
He, however, appealed to the state government to look into the supposed scholarship package for Benue students at Law School with the aim of releasing it to them for judicious use.
The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Titus Uba, some members of the Benue Assembly from the senatorial zone amongst other stakeholders graced the occasion.
A total of 90 students from the seven local government areas of the zone who are at the law school are to benefit from the 2019 round of the Scholarship awards.
