APC Pub Sec Hails Buhari’s Contributions to Benue State, Blasts Opposition for Failures

By Prosper Okoye
The Benue State All Progressive Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomou, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his contributions to the region, particularly in preventing the nation’s economy from collapsing under the weight of hardship.
Speaking in a media interview, Ihomou applauded Buhari’s policies, which he said had transformed the area and upgraded educational facilities.
“Thanks to the federal government’s projects here,” Ihomou said, “we’ve seen significant improvements in our schools, including the establishment of new institutions of learning such as the National Teacher Institute. I must say that in Benue, we’re fortunate to have an administration that truly cares about us.”
Ihomou also credited President Buhari with revitalizing the agricultural sector and making Nigeria self-sustaining in terms of food production. He suggested that Buhari’s economic blueprint could be built upon by the administration of Senator Ahmed Tinubu.
“Buhari is often criticized for how he’s managed the economy,” Ihomou acknowledged, “but the reality is that if not for Buhari, Nigeria would have collapsed,” he remarked.
Ihomou also criticized the policies of former President Jonathan, arguing that his administration did nothing to diversify the economy or promote economic growth. “The economy of Nigeria was on autopilot,” he claimed. “And that is why when the economy nose-dived, they had no option but to continue to degrade our foreign reserves that could boost the economy, and we all know what happened.”
Despite concerns over Buhari’s economic policies, Ihomou argued that he was ultimately responsible for preventing Benue state’s collapse and praised the bailout funds that were sent during his administration.
However, Ihomou expressed concern over the issue of non-payment of salaries and pensions in the state, saying it was due to a lack of proper management. He noted that despite the bailout and grant for budget support given, the situation in the state remained dire.

Panic in Anambra Assembly as Armed Men Try to Whisk Away Member-elect

There was panic at the Anambra State House of Assembly as four armed men, suspected to be operatives of the Directorate of Security Services (DSS), tried to whisk away member-elect for Nnewi North constituency, Mr Onyekachukwu Ike.
The armed men drove into the Assembly complex in three vehicles and grabbed the member-elect after he participated in a valedictory thanksgiving mass for the seventh Assembly.
They forced the member-elect into their vehicle and were trying to drive out of the Assembly complex when security personnel quickly locked the exit gate.
The Acting Clerk of the Assembly, Mrs Esther Aneto, and other senior staff lamented that the suspected DSS operatives did not inform them or even the Police personnel at the Assembly before trying to whisk Ike away.
One of the suspected DSS operatives, however, explained that they had a court order to arrest the member-elect.
It took the intervention of the Speaker, Dr Uche Okafor, and the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyeka Ibezim, who came to represent the Governor at the Valedictory session of the seventh Assembly, before the member-elect was released. (NAN)
